This question has been asked to many ,in fact most of the housewives specially by working women.
They feel that a person who does not go out of the house and work, should be having so much time and so the question
what do you do the whole day? How do you kill your time?
I myself have been a homemaker for nearly 19 years and i know how busy i was with my duties of being a wife and mother.
There is so much to do and no recognition. How can that job be valued?
There’s so much of hard work and heart put in that.
The worst thing is everybody has more expectations from a homemaker than a working woman.
Expectations start right from husband,in laws, children and everyone around you.
Also many times she herself feels that she has to be perfect or close to perfect in performing her duties ,be it looking after the house, socializing, churning out different dishes, to helping kids with their school projects and many more things.
When i started working and regularly going to office,my son was surprised, his first question was–
What does mummy do there? The idea of mother (live at home mom) going out and working was unbelievable.
As it is, a housewife’s work is considered as no work by most of the people, I have seen families who feel that if a lady is not working and contributing to the family kitty, she is not worth it. She is,not given the respect she deserves and made to feel “good for nothing” which in turn makes her lose her confidence.
But now after doing both the roles i personally feel that,It must be a real tough task for working moms to manage both their homes and jobs.
I am grateful to God for giving me this life that i do not have to work for a living.
I agree that many things may not be done to perfection, but the fact that they are managing both the jobs is itself worth appreciating.
I know of so many such women who have managed it brilliantly, their children are well educated and well groomed.
Yes,I do feel that they are not able to give much time to their kids and get involved in their activities.
But then, may be they require to work. The reasons may be monetary or otherwise.
There are women who give up their high flying jobs to be with their kids, they want to be with their children in their growing up years.
After saying all this i would like to answer on behalf of all the housewives or to sound better “homemakers” as to what do they do?
They don different hats round the clock, nanny, cook, teacher, nurse, waiteress, driver, entertainer, counselor, guide oh my god, the list is endless
We do get stressed out at times.I unwind by writing,or going for a walk or socializing with family and friends.
It’s not that we do not have the ability to do anything else. It’s just that we have chosen to be at home for providing a warm atmosphere for our family.
We just want love, respect and appreciation in return as our remuneration.
