Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day makes me reflect on something I’ve quietly observed over the years living in Dubai surrounded by women from all over the world, each carrying her own story, culture, and way of life.
I’ve met mothers who are open books, and others who take time to unfold their truths. Some have chosen motherhood in unconventional ways, shaped by societies where norms are different. Others have consciously chosen not to have children, valuing independence and freedom. And then some have devoted themselves entirely to raising their families, finding purpose in nurturing their homes.
At first glance, these differences seem vast, rooted in nationality, tradition, or belief. But when you Look closer, something deeper connects them all.
It’s not where we come from that defines us most; it’s our circumstances, our upbringing, the environments that shaped us, and the experiences that changed us. Beneath it all, the emotions are familiar: love, fear, resilience, sacrifice, hope.
Motherhood, in all its forms, is not one story it is many. And yet, it speaks a universal language.
This Mother’s Day, I feel grateful not just for the mothers in my life, but for the women I’ve met along the way. For the conversations, the laughter, the shared vulnerabilities, and the quiet understanding that no matter how different our paths may look, we are more alike than we realize.
To every mother, and every woman walking her own journey your story matters.
