Synopsis

Times of India review of Love at Last Swipe by Preeti Mallapurkar

Reviewed by TOI

A warm, witty dive into the chaos of modern romance at midlife. Priya, a middle-aged English tutor and widowed mother, never imagined she'd end up swiping through strangers on her phone. But with a gentle nudge from her son and the enthusiastic cheerleading of her closest friends, she reluctantly steps into the unpredictable world of online dating. What begins as an attempt to fill the quiet moments of her life quickly spirals into a parade of awkward chats, mismatched coffee dates, & hilariously unexpected encounters each one challenging her long-held ideas about love, age, grief, and starting over. As Priya stumbles through this digital maze of flirtation and faux pas, her bonds with her son, her friends, and most importantly herself begin to deepen and transform. And just when she least expects it, a connection emerges that rekindles her belief in companionship and the possibility of a new happily-ever-after. Priya's story is a heartfelt, humorous journey of courage, rediscovery, and the delightfully unpredictable magic of finding love again.

“My Writing Process”

Every book starts the same way for me: a character’s voice arrives before the plot does. I write in fragments first, scenes, conversations, a single line that won’t leave me alone, and only later do I find the shape connecting them. Writing has never been about discipline for me so much as listening. Some days that means pages come easily. Other days it means sitting with silence until something true finally shows up.

“From Script to Page”

Acting and writing have always felt like two ends of the same instinct to me, both are about stepping fully into someone else’s experience. Playing a character teaches me things about pacing and emotional truth that show up later on the page. Writing, in turn, has made me a more patient actress, someone more comfortable sitting inside a character’s silence. I don’t think that I could do one well without the other.
