Mirror, mirror on the wall, who all are happy with their wrinkles, warts & all? Most of the time, women are not happy with the way they look. Be it their weight, hair, skin colour, height & looks. They are just not comfortable the way they are. This may be because of the way our society & media portray female beauty. Beauty pageants are of women with made to order sought of bodies.
Matrimonial columns are wanting tall, slim & beautiful brides. Beauty is described in a way that makes many women think they are not desirable. This unhappiness makes these women lose their confidence & thus lowers their self-esteem.
In general, women are much more concerned about their appearance than men are. The key reason for this is that their appearance is central to how they are evaluated by others.
Many times, we are worried about our looks so much that we ignore our health.
I have heard of girls skipping meals to get that size zero. Spending thousands on cosmetics to get a look closer to their favorite actress.
Then many get desperate to go under the knife in a quest to achieve a desired shape. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look better, but there’s a fine line between self-improvement and camouflaging ourselves because we can’t stand who we are. If you can’t bear to look at your reflection in the mirror, this is not something make-up or surgery will ever fix. You’ve got to work from the inside out.
One needs to accept that we will age & thus will our bodies. It’s absolutely okay to have a few grey hairs & wrinkles here & there. There will be some skin folds after childbirth, some weight changes during menopause, and not to forget the decrease in hair volume. We feel less energetic & more lethargic, but then these things should not make us feel worse. It’s Sad to hear older women say they are old.
We sometimes need to remind ourselves that we are an evolved species on this planet. We need to know that being young is a state of mind. Only if one feels young will one look young. Try & do things that make you happy & just say to yourself you are beautiful.
I have seen women in their 60s & 70s looking absolutely amazing even at that age. It’s how we are comfortable with ourselves, our looks & the way we are.
Sight is not the only sense people use to decide whether someone is beautiful or not. You all would agree that a physically beautiful person with a bad attitude can quickly turn ugly in our eyes.
I’m much more confident now than I was in my teens and 20s. It’s been a journey of self-discovery, but I can honestly say that I’m delighted with the woman I’ve become.
Ultimately, nothing is more attractive than a woman who is happy in her own skin. You are the one who decides how attractive you are. You are a real woman, imperfections are what make you- You. You should be defining standards and not the other way round.
Hence, my request to all the women out there is to be happy in what you are & how you look. As you all are beautiful & I think God has not created a better creation than us- WOMEN
Enjoy being a woman & A very Happy Women’s Day
